About Herstory

The idea for this blog and podcast came from my experience teaching middle school history. As I would be teaching about great figures in ancient, medieval, and American history, inevitably a curious student would raise their hand and ask, "Mrs. Traquair, what about the girls?" I would then have to scour the internet and books to try to supplement my lessons with stories of strong women, which was difficult. So that's how the idea was born. I would provide a resource for those who were interested in learning more about important women of the past and present, and also give teachers resources about women that they could easily add into their already crammed curriculum.

This is a passion project for me. I have taught in the K-12 classroom for about 10 years teaching primarily medieval and ancient world history. I received my B.A. in history from the University of San Diego, and have a M.A. in Digital Teaching and Learning from Azusa Pacific University.
