The 61st annual Grammy Awards are tonight, and in honor of music's biggest night, here are 5 times women gave unforgettable performances at the awards show from the last 10 years:
1. Jennifer Hudson's Tribute to Whitney Houston (2012)
The day after Whitney Houston's sudden death, Jennifer Hudson sang a beautiful and powerful rendition of Houston's mega-hit, "I Will Always Love You." The performance left viewers with chills and the audience on the their feet.
2. Beyonce Re-Enacts The Last Supper (2017)
In 2017, a very pregnant Beyonce bedecked in all gold including a headdress gave a performance, which made it clear why she is the "queen". She not only sang her song "Sandcastles" and medley of other songs, but she also re-enacted Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper with Bey at the center (of course).
3. Carrie Underwood's High-Tech Dress (2013)
The country crooner wowed the audience at home and in the auditorium not only with her pipes, but her dress. As she sang her hits, "Blown Away" and "Two Black Cadillacs", her custom dress displayed images of butterflies, roses, and other images leaving everyone mesmerized.
4. P!nk Flies High (2010)
As a former athlete and gymnast, P!nk is pretty much fearless, and she proved that with her performance of "Glitter in the Air". The pop singer was suspended over the crowd using aerial silks, and sang upside down with no safety harness.
5. Kesha Bares Her Soul (2018)
Although Kesha is best known for fun, club-hopping hits like "Tik Tok", she gave a soul-stirring and personal performance of her song, "Praying". Kesha had been publicly battling her producer Dr. Luke in court over her claims of sexual assault. With her battle waging on in court, and the #MeToo and #TimesUp movement in full force, her song became an anthem for abuse survivors. Fellow singers, Cyndi Lauper, Camilla Cabello, Julia Michaels, Andra Day, and Bebe Rexha joined her in support on stage, and gave one of the Grammy's most relevant and poignant performances ever, highlighting that although these famous women are strong, they are still subject to sexual misconduct in the workplace.
